Key Largo Charter FAQ

Everything you'd ask the captain on the phone — answered up front.

How does pricing work?+

Every trip is private and priced per boat (up to 6 guests), not per person. The rate depends on the trip and the length you choose. You'll see live pricing for your dates the moment you open the booking calendar — pick a trip, pick a date, and the price is right there.

What trips do you offer?+

Eight: Intro to Fishing (calm patch reef), Catch & Cook, Deep Reef & Wreck, Deep Sea Big Game, the Gladiator of the Deep swordfish charter, a private Sunset Cruise, a private Sandbar Cruise, and Celebration of Life / ash-scattering ceremonies. Fishing trips run 2 to 10 hours; cruises run 2 to 4 hours; ceremonies are about 2 hours.

How many people can come on the boat?+

Six guests maximum. That's the USCG limit on the Miss Chief — and we like it that way. Every trip is private; we don't run shared or split trips.

Do I need a Florida fishing license?+

No. On fishing trips the Florida saltwater fishing license is covered on board. We handle the paperwork.

What's included on a fishing trip?+

Florida fishing license coverage, rods, reels, tackle, bait, ice, and dockside cleaning — we filet and bag your catch. Cruises and ceremonies include the private boat, captain, and restroom; bring your own food and drinks.

What if the weather is bad?+

If we call the trip for weather, we reschedule or refund — no fight, no fees. Weather calls are made the morning of the trip, never on a hunch. We won't put guests on unsafe water.

What's your cancellation policy?+

Guest-initiated cancellations require 72 hours notice for a full refund or free reschedule. Cancellations within 72 hours or no-shows forfeit the deposit. Captain-called weather days are rescheduled or fully refunded.

Are kids welcome?+

Absolutely. The Intro to Fishing trip is designed for kids and first-time anglers — calm reef water, light tackle, lots of action, and the captain baits hooks and teaches every cast. One parent really can bring five kids.

Can we keep the fish?+

Yes — anything legal to keep is yours. We'll filet it dockside and bag it on ice for the ride home. On the Catch & Cook trip we'll even point you to a local restaurant that cooks your catch. Sailfish and marlin are released.

Do you do sunset cruises and non-fishing trips?+

Yes. The private Sunset / Golden Hour Cruise and the Sandbar Cruise are relaxed, no-fishing trips for up to 6 — great for date nights, families, bachelorettes, and birthdays. We also run private celebration-of-life and ash-scattering ceremonies.

What should I bring?+

Light SPF clothing, hat, polarized sunglasses, closed-toe or soft-soled shoes, sunscreen, a cooler for fish to take home, and any food and drinks you want. If you get motion sickness, take a Bonine or apply a patch the night before — recommended for the offshore trips.

Where do you depart from?+

400 Ocean Drive, Key Largo, FL 33037. Arrive 15 minutes before departure for paperwork and a brief from the captain.
