Mahi-Mahi (Dorado) fishing in Key Largo

When the Gulf Stream warms and weed lines form, Key Largo mahi fishing turns into one of the most fun bites in saltwater.

Mahi-Mahi (Dorado) fishing Key Largo

How we fish mahi-mahi (dorado) in Key Largo

Spring through fall, mahi-mahi pile up along weed lines and floating debris 8–20 miles off Key Largo in the Gulf Stream. They're acrobatic, gorgeous, and they eat anything you throw at them. We troll ballyhoo on the way out, then sight-cast bucktails and live bait when we find a school. A good mahi day puts 10+ in the box — they're the best-eating fish in the Keys, and we'll filet them dockside. Best targeted on the Deep Sea Big Game charter.
