What to bring on your Key Largo charter
Short list. We supply the fishing gear, bait, license, ice, water, and filet — you bring you.
Bring
- • Light, breathable, SPF clothing (long sleeves are smart for sun protection)
- • Hat — wide brim or visor
- • Polarized sunglasses (game-changer for spotting fish)
- • Closed-toe shoes — no flip-flops or open sandals on a fishing boat
- • Sunscreen (reef-safe)
- • A cooler if you want to take your catch home — we'll filet it for you
- • Any food and drinks you want for the trip (we provide bottled water)
- • Cash for the captain tip if the day calls for it
Don't bring
- • Bananas (old fishing superstition — the captain will haze you)
- • Hard liquor (beer and wine are fine in moderation)
- • Glass — bottles slide and break on a moving boat
- • Big bags — cockpit space matters
If you get motion sickness
Take Bonine the night before and the morning of, or apply a scopolamine patch behind the ear 8+ hours before departure. The reef trips are calm; the offshore trips can roll. Better safe than spending the day green at the rail.
